Taking care of your hardwood flooring is a must to keep it looking it’s absolute best all of the time. How to do it so that it looks good all the time is sometimes tricky, but, doing all that is needed will save you from having a saw dust filled house as the contractors redo your damaged harwood floor.
Placing mats at all the entry points to the home, or rooms, with hardwood flooring will reduce the amount of small grit that can scrape between foot and floor, eventually dulling the finish.
You must clean your hardwood floor, sweeping and mopping at a minimum, and, if you have a vacuum designed for hardwood flooring, vacuuming too.
Place floor protectors on the legs of all heavy furniture and on the legs of all furniture that will not be moved very often. This is to reduce dents from forming as you would have in carpet. Any sharply pointed object should not be used on the flooring, including high heel shoes.
Lastly, keep the temperature and humidity from going to extremes in the rooms or home that your hardwood flooring is in, these extreme can damage the flooring in unseen ways for a long time, till it is too late to stop the damage from becoming a replacement project.
